Did you know..

I just read, per Pantone, that the color for 2010 is Turquoise.  Yeah!  I'm really into blues lately.  Not the music.  I got the artist blues....

Marci is snoring, Jake is sighing...

As I watch the pups, I am holding paintbrush in hand, dreaming of one day....

"Art begins with resistance - at the point where resistance is overcome. No human masterpiece has ever been created without great labor." ~ Andre Gide

Happy New Year!!!

"Art begins with resistance," so does my New Year.  Have been doing anything but starting a project.  I am not one to start any year with resolutions, I feel they can be fruitless...resolutions last as long as a very strong will lets it.  Anyway, I will not allow myself to get caught up in a mad artist block by trying so hard.  It doesn't have to be so difficult.   I remember years ago, when I also resisted doing any kind of art, I met a well known motivational speaker whose name escapes me. :(  After discussing my situation with him, he suggested I do one thing everyday, no matter how small, toward my goal.  So I bought a paint brush one day, held it the next, organized my paints, etc. After some time doing this I finally painted like mad!!  Didn't start out creating anything worth writing home about, but the feeling was there.  I loved every moment of it and I guess that is what the masterpiece is: the moment of creation.  It does start with resistance, for me anyway. With gentle nudging leads to something incredibly awesome: that explosion of art when resistance is "overcome."  It soon will be...

Until then, I wish you and yours a joyously creative New Year!!  God Bless!

Christmas was good.

Even though I worked most of the day, I still had time and energy to spend with my sister and her family.  This was unexpected, being on-call, thought I had to spend another Christmas working, then falling asleep on the couch after munching on restaraunt Christmas dinner.  Don't get me wrong, tis a blessing to be there for others in need on the holidays.  Though, was nice to stuff self with great food, sing Wii Rock Band and Christmas songs, and especially to laugh.

Yesterday, I received:
One moving gift (framed picture of late mom and dad from my sister)

One unexpected gift (candle holder from dinner hostess of all people, I should have been the bearer of gifts!!)
One gift to self (tube of cerulean blue oil paint)
One gift to my pups (no, two gifts each, a bone and an unstuffed stuffed toy. Crazy Jake likes to remove stuffing)
One gift from a very loving old soul (a pair of warm socks)

The best gift of all, the creative spirit that is ready to burst from me!!!

"Creativity is not something you wait for. It is something that waits for you." ~ Neale Donald Walsch

Day 2. Hmmm... Staring at my table-less dining room which has been the dogs' playroom. It was originally slated to be my studio, yet Marci and Jake took over. Think I may just take the room from the pups who pretty much own the rest of this place. They'll live.
